Update on Photographer

So..we changed our mind on the photographer and my friend & bridesmaid Gina set us up with her amazing photographer. I loved all of Gina's pictures from her wedding and knew I wanted Maria to shoot our wedding, no matter what the cost. I knew I'd be getting good quality and pictures I'd never regret. We met with her last night and are working out our budget and finances to be able to afford her..but we'll make it work. She's worth every penny. That's all for now- but I'll be updating soon!

Cakes, Photography & DJs

Happy Valentine's Day! <3

Went to Merry's Custom Cakes, where we will be getting our cake designed and made, a couple weekends ago to pick up some sample cupcakes and have a short consultation. We found out that we can get any cake we want, with no restrictions except fondant will cost a little extra if we choose that over buttercream. Since there are no restrictions and this is a free cake, you better believe I'm going all out. I found some ideas from pictures that I'm going to put together and then add my own spin to it. I want to have a drape on it like this cake does:

Except I want to have red edible flowers instead of the white ones they show here, and I want to have more flowers than shown. I also want the cake to be square instead of round and for it to have this vine-like detail across the parts that aren't covered by the drape:

The detailing will be done in red frosting. And we want it to be four layers, as shown above. As for the actual icing and flavors, we haven't quite decided on that yet but we are looking into such flavors as Amaretto, Italian Rum, Tiramisu, Red Velvet, French Apple (not very Italian, but oh well), and Zucchini Choc. Chip. The fillings we are interested in are apricot, cannoli, and raspberry. And finally, the icings we liked were anything vanilla. I didn't like the chocolate icings, plus I want the actual cake to be white anyway. We will see. We have plenty of time to make final decisions on the cake and probably won't be meeting with the cake designer til later this year.
That being said, thank God for my bridesmaid Gina. She recently got married and has been giving me great tips on where to find things for cheaper, like flowers, and other such details.
We also met with a photographer that we really, really liked. His name is Chuck and he was referred to us by our wedding coordinator Simone. His photography is amazing, his prices are more than reasonable for the quality he offers, and he had a very likeable personality. He's probably around our age, which is a plus to me because I feel that he will understand what I want my pictures to turn out like and he will let us have a big say in our poses, etc. A few of the photos he showed us took my breath away, plus I love the style of albums he offers. The pictures are flat-matted into albums, so it's like the pictures are the actual pages of the book. It looked really, really sharp. We will also be purchasing a DVD from him of the pics so that we can own them all on a disk as well as having all the proofs. Here is his website: http://www.art-to-spirit.com/wedding/index.html. If you click on the tab that says "Your Photos" you can look at all the recent weddings he's shot. We will most likely be booking him next week.
We are looking into DJ's as well, and Chuck said he had a few he could recommend to us.
I have started my weight loss regimen and am saving up to get a trainer for the last few months before the wedding, in order to lose the last few pounds that I know will be the hardest.

P.S. Found the veil that I want while watching Sweet Home Alabama- Reese Witherspoon wore a "birdcage veil" similar to the picture below and I loved it. Originally I thought I wanted a traditional long veil but I just love this look:

ADIOS!
